Apple is pushing flash storage HARD and while it would be nice to snag some extra gigs from a HDD for the same price as flash, it isn't worth the bulk and reduced data storage integrity.<BR/><BR/>While I was annoyed when Apple announced they were going with flash for the iPhone, in hindsight, I think it was a great decision. They're pulling the market forward and helping to drive down the prices of flash storage. I've written a custom visualizer called <A HREF="http://blog.insightvr.com/?page_id=57" REL="nofollow">Manifesto</A> and in order to demo it I used Screenium to make movies, which I've posted to YouTube and Vimeo. I'm able to watch the YouTube movies any time on my iPhone and I can load the movies onto it as well.<BR/><BR/>Additionally I've considered writing a visualizer for iPhone but there isn't a pluggin API so it would require a standalone app. Either way it would eat up the battery pretty seriously. I just purchased an iPhone after many years with a blackberry. The iPhone is an amazing Internet device, but it lacks as a messaging device. While I don't think it will ever compare to a blackberry as a messaging device, it can be improved a great deal if there was a single inbox for your email. I am about to return this device and switch back to the blackberry. The new bold is out and it is amazing. However, I can live with the iPhone if I didn't have to go through 15 steps to check all of my email. Please apple, do it quickly.
